The word 'light' is frequently repeated in the Holy Qur'an, so is the word 'darkness'. 'Light' does not refer to perceivable light, nor does 'darkness'. The Holy Qur'an rather refers to their abstract meanings.
The Exalted Allah said: "Say: are those equal, those who know and those who do not know? (Azzumur, 9).
He, Exalted He is, compares between an ignorant type of a person and a knowledgeable one. He said: "The blind and the seeing are not alike. Nor are the depths of Darkness and the Light. Nor are the {chilly} shade and the {genial} heat of the sun" (Fater, 19-21).
"The blind and the seeing are not alike" is a comprehensive verse, i.e., the people who have blind hearts cannot be compared with the wise ones. The Exalted Allah does not refer to the blindness of the eyesight. "Truly it is not their eyes that are blind, but their hearts which are In their breasts" (Al Haj, 46).‏
Thus, in the verse "The blind and the seeing are not alike" there is comparison between the one who has a seeing heart and a blind one. The one on whose heart the filth of sins is accumulated will definitely have a blind heart, worst of which is when he falls in the pit of aberration and disbelief. The Exalted Allah said: "By no means! But on their hearts is the stain of the {ill} which they do" (Al Mutaffifin, 14).
'The blind' is the one on the eye of whose heart the filth of unbelief, dissipation and disobedience is accumulated, while the 'seeing' is the one whose heart is pure and he has a clear insight. Consequently, he can distinguish between truth and falsehood, so he goes along the straightway with knowledge: "Say thou: this is my way; I do invite unto Allah, on evidence clear as the seeing with one's eyes, I and whoever follows me" (Yusuf, 108).
In the verse: "Nor are the depths of Darkness and the Light", the Holy Qur'an takes us to an abstract domain where blindness and seeing of hearts are explained. The darkness, referred to in this verse, is that of disobedience, dissipation and unbelief, whereas 'light' is the guidance of the Exalted Allah. The Exalted Allah lightens the hearts and minds of His salves, in addition to enlightening them with the good example of our master, Muhammad (PBUH). The Exalted Allah makes Islam the light, that is, the light of the Exalted Allah. So the one who becomes aware of this light, will have an enlightened heart, but the one who disbelieves in, and turns away from it while he is immersed in lust and the unpermitted, and when he behaves indecently, will become blind-hearted.
The verse: "Nor are the {chilly} shade and the {genial} heat of the sun" summarizes the destiny of man. As the Holy Qur'an interprets itself by itself, 'Shade' refers to Paradise, and 'heat' refers to Hell Fire. The Exalted Allah said: "The parable of the Garden which the righteous are promised beneath it flow rivers; perpetual is the enjoyment thereof and the shade therein", the shade mentioned here is that of Paradise, "Such is the end of the righteous; and the end of Unbelievers is the fire" (Ar Ra'h, 35).
In this verse, there is juxtaposition between shade and heat when the Exalted Allah refers to the end of the righteous. It is their entering into Paradise where there are perpetual shade and provision. He also refers to the excessive heat that will be the end of the unbelievers: "and the end of Unbelievers is the fire".
Consequently, the Exalted Allah summarizes the issue in three verses when He said: "The blind and the seeing are not alike. Nor are the depths of Darkness and the Light. Nor are the {chilly} shade and the {genial} heat of the sun", i.e., when man begins his life with obedience and fear of Allah and follows the footsteps of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH), his end will be getting into Paradise where there is perpetual shade. On the other hand, if man turns away from the guidance of the Exalted Allah, his end will be entering Hell with its scorching heat prepared for those who are arrogant, haughty and reject faith.
If we review the word 'light' mentioned in the Holy Qur'an, we find a lot of examples about it. It is He, Exalted He is, Who gets His slaves out of darkness into light because He created this getting of them. The Messengers (PBUTH), as well, get the slaves of Allah out of darkness into light because they are the means of this getting. In the Holy Books sent by the Exalted Allah to His Messengers, there are clear methods, constitution and regulations directed to man. They are light because they are practical methods through which man can see the truth and be guided to the most righteous conduct.
The Exalted Allah leads people from darkness into light. In the Holy Qur'an, there are a lot of examples concerning this meaning, as when the Exalted Allah said: "Allah is the protector of those who have Faith; from the depths of darkness he will lead them forth into light. Of those who reject Faith the patrons are the evil ones", i.e., those who violate the limits of their slavery to the Exalted Allah by being tyrannical, " from light they will lead them froth into the depths of darkness" (Al Baqarah, 257), i.e., they seek corruption and try to tempt people to be attracted by unbelief, dissipation and aberration.

Nowadays, a lot of money flows to our countries with the purpose of corrupting the youth and the old people, and making morality dissolute. There a war waged against morality and against virtue, and all developed means that can be used for good or evil are being employed.
The Exalted Allah also said: "O ye who believe celebrate the praise of Allah, and do this often. And glorify Him morning and evening. He it is Who sends blessings on you, as do His angels, that He may bring you out from the depths of Darkness into Light; and He is Full of Mercy to the Believer" (Al Ahzab, 41-43).‏
It is He, Exalted He is, Who leads people from darkness into light, but He calls His slaves to be exposed to the fragrance of the Blessings of Allah. When they do that, they will be like the disciple who knocks at the door to find the response. It is the Exalted Allah Who said: "For any to whom Allah giveth not light, there is no light" (An Nur, 40).
Man cannot get light unless he turns to Allah, and the people of this light cannot be equal to those of darkness.
The Exalted Allah also refers to the means of leading people from darkness into light. These are the Messengers (PBUTH). For example: "We sent Moses with our Signs {and the command}: Bring out thy people from the depths of darkness into light, and teach them to remember the days of Allah. Verily in this there are Signs for such as are firmly patient and constant, grateful and appreciative "‏(Ibrahim, 5).
Referring to our Master, Muhammad (PBUH), the Exalted Allah said: "For Allah hath indeed sent down to you a Message, a Messenger, who rehearses to you the Signs of Allah containing clear explanations, that he may lead forth those who believe and do righteous deeds from the depths of Darkness into Light. And those who believe in Allah and work righteousness, He will admit them to Gardens beneath which rivers flow, to dwell therein forever: Allah has indeed granted for them a most excellent provision" (At Talaq, 9-10).
He also said: " A. L. R. A book which we have revealed unto thee, in order that thou mightiest lead mankind out of the depths of darkness into light by the leave of their Lord to the way of {him} the exalted in power, worthy of all praise" (Ibrahim, 1).
Consequently, it is he who leads all the people. It is he who is the conveyer of Allah's Message to all mankind. It is he who is the Seal of the Prophets, after whom there will be no message. His Message and legislation superseded all legislations before him. The Exalted Allah draws the attention to the fact that 'Light' is the Holy Qur'an. He said: "Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered Prophet, whom they find mentioned in their own {Scriptures} in the Law and the Gospel, for he commands them what is just and forbids them what is evil; he allows them as lawful what is good {and pure} and prohibits them from what is bad {and impure}; he releases them from their heavy burdens and from the yokes that are upon them. So it is those who believe in him, honor him, help him, and follow the Light which is sent down with him, it is they who will prosper" (Al A'raf, 157).
The Exalted Allah calls those who belong to Torah and those who belong to the Bible to follow our Master, Muhammad (PBUH), and follow the Qur'an that was revealed to him(PBUH). He said: "Those who follow the Messenger". He did not say, "Those who admire him", nor did He say, "Those who praise him". He rather said: "Those who follow him".
It is a clear declaration from the Exalted Allah Who sent the Torah and the Bible. Notice how those who follow the Torah contradict the Torah. It is because they turn away from the Light that was revealed to Moses (PBUH), for the Torah prohibits people from killing, but they kill people.
In this instant, I'd like to greet the believer who stood before that alleged President who claimed to be the President of the Zionist Entity, and said: "You contradict what you claim to belong to, and have the illusion that you belong to the Torah. In your killing and behavior and what you really do in reality, you contradict the Torah revealed to Moses.
They become void of lights. Consequently, there remains no light in their hearts or their breasts, because, after the mission of our Master, Muhammad (PBUH), the Holy Qur'an has become the only source of light.

All creatures' doors are closed
Except that of Al Mustafa, from which entrance is attained.
We call all the people of the world to embrace Islam. The one who responds to our call will get the light, and if any does not do that, he intentionally insists on being in darkness. We are the owner of an enlightened Message that implies mercy and goodness. We call to this Message, convey and clarify it, but we force no one to follow. We do not experience coercive means to force people to follow it, but we try our best and use every effort we have in order to clarify it.
The question that we should always ask ourselves about is: Have we really clarified this Message well?
Have we really conveyed this Message to the East and the West, or we just talk to one another, that is, we explain it to the one who is acquainted with it, and refrain from clarifying it to the one who is ignorant of it?
Today, there are two problems: the first is the Muslims' ignorance of Islam, and the second is the non-Muslims' ignorance of Islam. It is incumbent on us to convey a rational Message that implies all clarifying means, and use all the techniques to clarify this light using these clear and explanatory means by all languages, not only Arabic. This Message should be conveyed by means of all the world languages to explain it to all people.
Those who have the ability of conveying the Message by means of other languages, and who do not realize that translation in our time is considered an important part in the task of this Message, are negligent of their duty. They are also considered negligent when they have the means of doing that, but they turn away from conveying the Message.
Man maintains the inborn natural disposition he is created with, therefore we have to exert all our effort to convey this Message, clarify and explain it, and get away from distorting it. Sorrowfully enough, some of our own fellows do distort this Message…
Some of our own fellows convey the Message in a reversed way… .
Some of our fellows make people avert from this Message…
Our Master, Muhammad (PBUH) informes us that there will come a time when this Message spreads all through the world as the spreading of day and night.
This is what the truthful and trusted by Allah (PBUH) said. His words verify what the Exalted Allah said: "It is He Who hath sent His Messenger with Guidance and the Religion of Truth, to proclaim it over all religion, even though the Pagans may detest {it}" ( At Tawbah, 33). The Exalted Allah undertakes and guarantees accomplishing this Message. Moreover, He calls us to be the means of conveying it and be honored by being entrusted with it.
Accordingly, the Qur'an exhorts the people of Torah and the Bible to follow Muhammad (PBUH), then, in the same verse, there is repetition of the same idea suggesting following the Qur'an: "Is one whose heart Allah has opened to Islam, so that he has received enlightenment from Allah, {no better than one hard hearted}?" Thus, the enlightened one is that whose breast is comforted by Islam, "Woe to those whose hearts are hardened against celebrating the praises of Allah. They are manifestly wandering {in error}" (Az Zumur, 22).
When, in His Holy Qur'an, the Exalted Allah tells that He is the Light of heavens and earth, the people of belief wondered: "How can we be closer to the light of the heavens and earth? Where can we find the light of heavens and earth?"
The Exalted Allah guides them to this light of heavens and earth that exists in the Houses Allah has permitted to be raised to honor, that is, the mosques that have sorrowfully deprived of their task.
In the past, mosques were built with the purpose of producing great men, heroes, people who build up life, to make goodness, welfare and benefit spread on the earth.
The Exalted Allah said: "Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The parable of His Light is as if there were a Niche and within it a Lamp; the Lamp enclosed in Glass; the glass as it were a brilliant star; lit from a blessed Tree, an Olive, neither of the East nor of the West, whose Oil is well nigh Luminous, though fire scarce touched it; light upon Light. Allah doth guide whom He will to His Light; Allah doth set forth Parables for men, and Allah doth know all things" (An Nur, 35).
What does He say after that?
Where can you find this light if you want to see it?
The Exalted Allah said: "In houses, which Allah hath permitted to be raised to honor; for the celebration, in them, of His name; in them is He glorified in the mornings and in the evenings, {again and again} by men whom neither traffic nor merchandise can divert from the Remembrance of Allah, nor from regular Prayer, nor from the practice of regular Charity: their {only} fear is for the Day when hearts and eyes will be transformed {in a world wholly new}. That Allah may reward them according to the best of their deeds, and add even more for them out of His Grace; for Allah doth provide for those whom He will, without measure" (An Nur, 36-38).
In a previous recent meeting, I asked about the design of the Islamic city in our Islamic world.
Oh engineers who claim to be the children of Islam, where are your designs that would reveal the type of the Islamic city derived from the city of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH)?
Designing the Islamic city is a settled theory, as the settlement of the economic Islamic theory, the social Islamic theory, the political Islamic theory…, similarly, the constructional Islamic designing has settled.
In your sciences, in your traditions, in your fundamentals, read and be acquainted with the fact about the designing of the Islamic city. Mosques were built in the center of the city surrounded by buildings of the great most important crafts, after which buildings of clean crafts came and trade and other professions. Outside the city, there were buildings of professions that might pollute the atmosphere.
It was a well-studied deign based on the discipline of the Qur'an. It refers to the connection of all social activities with the mosque. The ruler is connected with the mosque, so are the clerks, the merchants, the industrialists, the professionals, and the students, because their connection with the mosque, in addition to their doing their jobs (whether these are related to economy, agriculture, sciences or any other job) represents their servitude to the Exalted Allah, and because the Muslim finds the Light of Allah in the mosque and in the behavior of Muhammad (PBUH). Moreover, he finds the Qur'an in the mosque applied without any pollution.

Is it not shameful to read about the Caliph, Al Mansur Al Abbasi, who built the Islamic city, while today, there is not even one city in the Islamic world built according to the Islamic design?
Through all the world, among the one Billion and a half, there is not even one typical Islamic city!!
We do not seek a political emirate. We rather ask for a social discipline in which man lives in the best conditions and the best morals.
When we discuss Islam with the West, they say: Where is your practical experience of the year 2009?
We do not want mere ideas. We rather want a down to earth experience. Where is the Islamic city in our wide world that exceeds one billion and a half?
The mosque is the center of life, not because it moves you from life to change you into a theologian or a priest. It rather relates material life to obeying the Exalted Allah and being connected with Him.
"By men whom neither traffic nor merchandise can divert from the Remembrance of Allah", the Muslim is a type in his merchandise dealings, in selling and buying. He is not distracted by any type of these activities. Consequently, every material activity is connected with the mosque.
" By men whom neither traffic nor merchandise can divert from the Remembrance of Allah". They are the people of remembering Allah, and the people of the presence of their hearts with Allah.
The physician whose heart is connected with Allah, as well as the industrialist, the pharmacist, the engineer, and the lawyer, are all praised by the Exalted Allah. They stand in fear and awe at the Majestic Position of Allah. The Exalted Allah said:
"Those truly fear Allah, among His Servants, who have knowledge" (Fater, 28).
"But for such as fear the time when they will stand before {the Judgment Seat of} their Lord, there will be two Gardens" (Ar Rahman, 46).
Then He said: "from regular Prayer". Prayer is renewal of the Muslim's covenant with his Lord five times a day. In it, he admits his servitude to Him, his kneeling and his prostrating to Him alone.
"The practice of regular Charity", should be realized so that social solidarity can be attained in the one society, and so that no on needy, hungry or poor person remains. When these exist in a society, this means Zakat is not distributed among them, nor are their needs fulfilled.
When the Exalted Allah asks the wealthy to give the Zakat of their money, He well knows that this amount will suffice the needs of the poor so that no one needy remains in this society. When needy people exist in a society, this means this society is sinful, delinquent and will be the cause of preventing rain because of this fault.
When there is obedience on the part of man on the earth, blessings from heaven will be sent to him. The Exalted Allah said: "If the people of the towns had but believe and feared Allah, we should indeed have opened out to them (all kinds of) blessing from heaven and earth; but they rejected (the truth), and we brought them to book for their misdeeds "(Al A'raf, 96).
This is our Message.
Our Message is to announce servitude to Allah alone, to understand the application of the Prophet (PBUH) of Islam, to recite the Qur'an with good understanding then to explain it to the world as well as to the Muslims in whose life religion has been changed into mere habits. They have become ignorant of the fact that Islam is the leader, the guide and the organizer of life.

This is our Message that we have to carry out in the present. We have to employ all our efforts for it, on the human level as well as on the technical level. Our delinquency in this concern will be reverted negatively on us.
When the wealthy, the strong, the ruler, and every man of whatever occupation he has, announce their affiliation to this Message, they will produce marvelous deeds, and the aspect of humanity will be changed. Only then falsehood will not predominate truth and its people.

Allahum…, guide us to You favorably, and make us from those who listen to wisdom and follow the best of it.
I say my words and ask Allah's forgiveness.
